About Me

person-centred counsellor, therapy, therapist, psychotherapist, cornwall, in-person, online, walk and talk.

My name is Cara, I am a person-centered therapist. I offer in person, online and telephone counselling from my studio in a village near St Columb Major, Cornwall; a haven where your mind quietens and time slows down.

My path to counselling grew from an 18-year career within art education.  This background deeply shaped my passion for listening to and exploring each person’s unique inner world. Having worked extensively within trauma-informed schools, I deeply value creating an adaptable, accepting space—one that embraces and supports neurodivergent ways of thinking and experiencing the world.

Within my therapeutic practice, I am guided entirely by you. Always working from a trauma informed approach and at your pace I provide a calm, confidential space where we can explore your thoughts and experiences at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you. You might be looking for support with anxiety, grief, depression, or a difficult life transition. Or perhaps you simply feel that something is 'off' and you're feeling stuck.

Talking is central to how we connect, but your therapy can look however you need it to. Rooted in the person-centered approach, I also recognise the power of incorporating movement, creativity and breathwork alongside your words. Together we can talk through and practice techniques that can help you cope in difficult moments, helping you to move towards your own sense of balance and wellbeing.

You might not yet know what you need from our sessions, or what therapy looks like for you. That is completely okay. Together, we will explore your world at your own pace, discovering what supports and helps you most.

Welcome to my studio; a calm, relaxed, welcoming space tucked away at the end of my garden behind the vegetables and roses. I have parking available for a stress free arrival.

Sometimes, when we feel dysregulated we need to move. Movement can also help to shift stuck thoughts or emotions. If you need that movement, or the idea of sitting opposite me feels too formal, we can wander outside to walk beneath the trees or through the fields. Both movement and nature help us to regulate our nervous system, inviting a sense of calm; enabling you to think clearly and make sense of your thoughts.

If you choose to stay inside my studio for your therapy sessions you can sit back on the sofa, or if you prefer, we can sit around the table with craft materials and paper, where you can write or draw to help process your thoughts. I have a range of objects and fidgets for you to interact with if you find that helpful or soothing.
